Purpose-designed Project Offices for New Train Manufacturing Facility

THE BRIEF

High quality project offices were required by Siemens Mobility for the development and construction of a new £200m train manufacturing plant and rail supply chain village in Goole.

THE HIRE SOLUTION

Premier installed a two-storey, 220sqm office building featuring a rooftop viewing platform offering panoramic views of the site. This allows project team members and visitors to view progress of the development of the entire site.

The building was delivered during the Covid-19 lockdown and installed in just one week.

The offices were handed over only five weeks after receipt of the order and will be in use for at least a year.

This latest contract follows the supply of offices and welfare accommodation by Premier for two other Siemens sites.

A RAIL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR THE UK

The first trains to be manufactured in Goole will be new Tube trains for London’s Piccadilly line. Transport for London is committed to supporting the wider UK through its supply chain, and this is an excellent example of how funding for London’s public transport system is providing investment in business and jobs across the country as part of the levelling up agenda.

Siemens Mobility has been focused on working with local suppliers for the construction of the Goole facility, contracting the first £50m spend with Yorkshire businesses. The new train factory is scheduled to open in 2023, creating up to 700 jobs and up to 1,700 in the supply chain. The company plans to create an associated rail supplier village and innovation centre, making Goole a rail centre of excellence for the UK.

CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVE

Sambit Banerjee, Managing Director, Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock and Customer Services:

“Our goal with this new trains factory is to really put Goole on the global map. We want to create more than just a rail manufacturing facility. This is about generating long-term investment, skills and jobs.”

“We were pleased to work again with Premier Modular which is also a local Yorkshire company. It was important for us to have a high quality working environment for the project teams working on the site and to create a positive first impression of this important investment scheme for our visitors.”

“It is fantastic to have the viewing platform for visitors to get a whole view of the site. This is part of our commitment to working with the local supply chain to create local value.”
