Location: Brandesburton, East Yorkshire
Reports To: Divisional Director
Purpose:
- To work alongside and support the sales team to maximise the opportunities of bid success in the market.
- To challenge proposed bids to ensure they are viable and winnable schemes.
- To take responsibility for all Construction aspects of bid development ensuring the risks are adequately considered and covered.
- To take responsibility for the management of project teams from design order award, through development and negotiation, to full contract award.
- To work with the Estimating Manager to ensure the project launch process to delivery teams is an effective handover.
- Ensure the design deliverables are clear and agreed with clients
- Manage the design deliverables against an agreed programme of works ensuring the client is aware of progress at agreed intervals.
Experience, Qualifications & Training:
- HND or Degree Level in Construction preferred.
- Highly numerate.
- Contractually and commercially aware. Having detailed knowledge of the terms of JCT D&B and NEC3 forms of contract is important.
- The successful candidate would preferably have a minimum 5 years’ experience in an equal / similar role, from within a Design and Build, Modular or Main Contracting background.
Principle Accountabilities
- To complete / manage the construction assessment of all firm quote / tender bids. This should include:
- Programmes
- Prelims
- Surveys, whether actual or desktop
- Key risk assessment to include
- Technical assessment
- M & E assessment
- Construction risk
- Commercial risk
- Ensure the project launch process gives an effective handover to the delivery teams.
- When project is won as a design order initially, to take responsibility to fully project manage the project through the process, including negotiation, to the point of full contract award and launch, maximising gross margin and minimising risk.
- Manage the Divisional Planning teams to give best impact to both preconstruction and to the live delivery sites.
- Ensure that the BIM requirements are understood and met, including BIM Execution Plan (BEP), which in turn is passed to the delivery team with complete clarity.
Other influence and involvement areas:
- Work with the sales team to identify which schemes would benefit mostly from construction input at bid stage, to ensure the best tender opportunities are brought into the Business.
- Attend pre or mid tender interviews where impact needed.
- Attend and partake in tender presentations where construction input will improve conversion likelihood.
- Support the sales team in negotiation of price and T & C’s where necessary.
- Develop key client relationships to engender repeat Business.
