Client & Project Team Testimonials
Katrina Morley, CEO, Tees Valley Education Multi Academy Trust
“From the minute they were appointed to the minute our school opened Premier Modular went the extra mile to give us the teaching environment our children deserve. Their work ethic and level of commitment was second to none and the experience of the children was as important to them as it is to us. This was consistently demonstrated.
“Their communication was always excellent particularly with the way they interacted with our neighbours on the estate. This extra level of care, plus designing and building the school in line with our curriculum in only 8 weeks meant we could welcome children, including some that had never been to school, to a place designed just for them”
Jennifer Duncan, Head Teacher, Discovery Special Academy
“The units installed by Premier Modular have allowed children and families from across the Tees Valley to access local specialist education they would otherwise not have been able to do. From taking on the project in April 2019, Premier Modular worked quickly and efficiently to bring in a difficult build in a very short timescale, ensuring that children had accommodation to move into by September 2019.
Since then, the building has been used to deliver high-quality specialist provision to a large group of children with complex needs. Everyone who enters the building comments on how it does not feel like a temporary cabin solution, but a welcoming academy with a heart and a true community feel.
The team from Premier Modular involved in the build from design brief to completion, and beyond, have been supportive and ensured the building, and therefore the children, thrive. I would highly recommend Premier Modular as a company who put the client at the centre of what they do.“
Tees Valley Multi Academy Trust needed to provide modular classrooms for children with special educational needs whilst their permanent academy was being built.
The temporary Discovery Special Academy had to have high-quality specialist teaching facilities and be ready quickly for the September term.
The offsite solution
In eight weeks Premier Modular designed and installed a single-storey school block consisting of five modular classrooms with sensory areas, a hall with offices, cleaning facilities, special toilets with motorised sinks, and changing rooms. The installation time also included groundworks, drainage, M&E, and landscaping as well as a canopy for the play area.
A purpose-built facilities for children who need them, The Academy has been designed with a specialist curriculum in mind and now provides 60 primary places for Tees Valley children including some who had never been in a school setting. As well as educational provision the school hosts therapeutic and health workers for some of the children who have even more complex needs.
An ambitious programme – as the school had to be operational for the September term works were carried out over the summer holiday and during weekends
Local residents were concerned about the construction work particularly with the delivery and cranage of the modules. Premier Modular and Tees Valley Education worked together as a team to mitigate concerns and proactively communicate with the community.
By providing the decant facilities under a bespoke rental arrangement, the Academy could provide the best specialist learning environment for the pupils of Brambles School while the new facility was being built.
Despite a tight programme and complexed groundworks, the project was completed on time. This enabled the school to accommodate staff and pupils without disruption to the the beginning of term.
