2026 marks a major milestone for Premier Modular – we are celebrating our 70th anniversary! Our Platinum anniversary offers a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, the values that have shaped us and the ambitions driving our next chapter.
While proudly Yorkshire-based, we have grown to become one of the UK’s leading modular construction specialists where our goals have always been driven by innovation, adaptability and a commitment to delivering high-quality spaces. Founded as Premier Construction, and rebranded as Premier Modular Limited in 2015, it’s safe to say we’ve been premium from the very start.
Over the decades, the industry has transformed dramatically. What began as a practical alternative to traditional construction has evolved into an advanced manufacturing approach, capable of delivering complex buildings with real impact and minimal disruption. Throughout this evolution, we have maintained a simple principle: to deliver fast and sustainable construction, on time and on budget, where behind every successful project, is a team of experts. Today, that ethos is more relevant than ever as organisations across the UK and Europe look for faster and greener spaces that help businesses and communities to flourish.
Keeping our customers happy has always been key to our progress. Our business’ longevity not only reflects the breadth of clients we work with, but also our ability to adapt to evolving environmental requirements. Whether supporting critical healthcare projects, expanding education facilities, building up to 6 storeys for infrastructure sites, or providing specialist buildings for the public sector – including defence, justice and retail – we’ve established a reputation of meeting urgent needs without compromising on quality.
Recent years have shown the true strength of modular construction, with rapid deployment of permanent and interim projects becoming essential across many sectors. Since 2017 alone, we have:
We, along with the rest of the country, also faced the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic. To support the government and NHS, we helped set up over 50 community testing sites across the UK to help increase testing capacity and safeguard public health. Our modular solutions, coupled with our detailed project management skills, meant that site installation could be achieved in as little as three days.
Our people have always been at the heart of everything we do. As a company, we’re proud of our values and family PACT, where everything’s built on loyalty, trust, compassion and a deep understanding of one another. This is reflected in our team retention – just last year, three Premier veterans celebrated a fantastic 25 years with us! Growth within our team has been experienced first-hand, for example the proportion of women working in the factory more than doubled between 2021 and 2023, and we champion EDI to ensure we have diversity in the workplace. We now have over 300 staff at Premier Modular and are grateful to each and every one for their contribution and hard work over the years.
Our commitment to growth and innovation is also reflected in our expanding European presence, driven by the continued development of our European subsidiary since 2022. This has strengthened our reach, bringing our expertise in speed, quality and offsite manufacturing to new markets while advocating for collaboration on projects where sustainability, high technical standards and rapid delivery are essential.
Looking ahead, sustainability remains firmly at the centre of our strategy. As the first non-financial company in Europe to be ESG-certified by SGS in 2022, we are dedicated to driving sustainable building approaches and lessening the footprints of organisations globally by embedding greener methods in how we design, build and operate.
The formation of the Premier Modular group with the acquisition of Net Zero Buildings (NZB) in 2021 has allowed for divisions to be focused on delivering net zero in operation and helping client ensure compliance. We also established a Net Zero pathway to ensure that ultimately every one of our processes and premises will be entirely net zero by 2040, with a 75% reduction by 2035.
Reaching our 70th anniversary is both a celebration and a springboard. It reflects decades of hard work, partnership and progress, while also marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter where we aim to continue driving innovation in modular construction, expand our capabilities and embed sustainability in every aspect of our work. Investment in digital technologies and advanced manufacturing techniques will help us deliver buildings that are not only faster and more cost effective for clients, but also smarter, more resilient and aligned with net zero ambitions.
