The Brief

Design and deliver a new main entrance building as part of a redevelopment programme

As part of an ongoing transformation programme to renovate and modernise the site buildings, Warwick Hospital needed a new main entrance building and ward areas. Originally founded in 1848, the hospital – part of the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) – has been through many renovations over the years and is now undergoing improvements through the Trust’s wider development and investment plan.

To improve patient experience and support future clinical growth, phase one of the plan required a large-scale, high-quality main entrance that would meet patient, staff, and visitor needs. We were appointed by Noviniti to design and install the new entrance, incorporating space for both retail amenities and patient healthcare.

For the remaining top floors of the building, SWFT appointed us to design and deliver an adaptable healthcare space, to be followed by a fit out to be completed in the final phase of development. This space would be developed as ward areas providing much needed support for services with increased demand whilst aligning with the funding capacity of the trust.

The proposed construction site was in a constrained space in the heart of the bustling activity of a live hospital which presented logistical challenges.
