BRIEF

A major data provider wanted to build its second data centre in North Amsterdam (Hollands Kroon, Middenmeer) to expand its cloud footprint.

With construction of the new data centre starting in 2020, and estimated to finish in 2024, Mace Group – the global construction company delivering the project – needed first class office and welfare facilities, which were bespoke to it’s site team’s needs as the project developed

The Mace team needed two temporary buildings: the Oasis building (delivered in 2021) and the Main Works building (handed over at the end of August 2022).

The offsite solution

Premier created, delivered and installed two temporary buildings, to provide 4,392 sq meters of high-quality office and welfare space for site construction teams.

The first-class internal environment of these temporary facilities made them feel permanent with their large, spacious rooms and offices, all with high ceilings (2.7m).

The two air-conditioned buildings comprised washrooms, lockers, canteen, prayer rooms, private offices, open plan offices, meeting rooms, and board rooms.

In Europe, temporary accommodation is typically small, boxed and restrictive for construction teams, is it was important that Premier delivered the complete opposite – open spaces with high ceilings and a strong perspective of the space available.

Above all else, the project needed to create a top-tier internal environment, so the spaces would make a real difference to the construction staff’s working environment.

To achieve this, the units used Premier Modular’s market leading system, Transline Plus, which has a standard height of 2.7m and plenty of open space that was incorporated into the overall building design. Premier’s Transline Plus facilities offer extremely high-quality site accommodation for construction teams.

The challenges

There were two main challenges around the projectâs delivery:
Logistics: There were various logistical challenges. However, Premier Modular worked closely with supply chain partners to overcome the challenges presented by Brexit to seamlessly deliver the project into Europe at pace

Timeframes: Time on site was restricted to a standard working day, with no evening or weekend work to align with Dutch culture.
By working closely with Mace, Premier delivered at pace and on programme, which meant Mace remained on track with the overall project timeline.
