The Brief

To deliver a community sports pavilion, built with sustainability and community in mind.

Darwin Green is a brand-new housing development that has been built with community at its heart. Located just 1.6 miles from Cambridge, the multi-phased development will deliver 1,572 dwellings comprising 4-storey apartments, low-rise housing, 1 to 5 beds, of which 40% will be mixed tenure affordable homes.

The development has site wide infrastructure, balancing pond, community rooms, health facility, library, central park with play parks and allotments, green spaces, and essential community facilities such as schools and retail hubs, for residents to enjoy.

As part of Darwin Green’s community wellbeing offering, the development includes a sports pavilion with sports pitches and tennis courts, that sit alongside the park for local residents to enjoy. Barratt Homes needed a partner to construct an innovative facility that was not only fit-for-purpose for future residents, but would also meet the sustainability requirements of the wider development.

With the development progressing rapidly, the sports pavilion also needed to be onsite quickly so it was ready for when homeowners started to move in.

To deliver their facility at speed and with sustainability at the forefront, Barratt Homes appointed Premier Modular to provide a pavilion adjacent to the development’s central park.
