Premier Modular was delighted and humbled to be named as winners of the Best Safety Innovation Award at the 2018 awards evening held in Bridgwater – a fantastic way to celebrate the close of an exciting year for Premier.
As offsite specialist contractors, the work carried out by Premier is classed as a high risk activity, with the majority of our activities carried out working at height - especially at during the modular installation phase. In recognition of the important part that minimising any health and safety risks on site would play to the successful delivery of any work on this scheme, Premier developed a lifting frame and safety carousel. Following its implementation, Premier has seen the safety carousel’s true importance in reducing any potential for accidents and injuries on site.
The safety carousel sits on top of the modules, with the lifting frame and equipment carrying out the main lift. The carousel has safety access gates and once the module is landed, operatives can access the module roof and carousel, carryout key activities without the need to rely on safety harnesses at all times. Designed for ultimate flexibility, the lifting frame and carousel are easily adapted to suit numerous module sizes.
Demonstrations and trial lifts were carried out prior to full use and implementation of this safety innovation has delivered time and cost savings to the project, with reduced need for expensive hire equipment.
Premier has a passion and commitment to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of its workers and all others involved in any scheme they work on; Premier believes the lifting frame and safety carousel demonstrates that high risk activities can be carried out safely with innovation and planning.
Premier would like to congratulate everyone who was shortlisted for these awards and all their fellow winners.
