Rough sleepers on Hull’s streets will receive a rucksack of clothing, toiletries and other essential items this December. Brandesburton offsite construction firm, Premier Modular, has teamed up with Kingston upon Hull charity Ladled with Love to compile and distribute 150 rucksacks to those who need them most at the beginning of the month. Each rucksack has been packed by staff members at Premier Modular who also, with guidance from the charity, carefully sourced the items that will help rough sleepers maintain their health and hygiene over the winter months.
The rucksacks will be distributed by volunteers from Premier Modular on Monday 2 December and Monday 9 December to any rough sleeper who attends Ladled with Love’s regular soup kitchen in Queens Gardens. The contents include:
- toilet rolls,
- lip balms,
- sanitary towels.
“The homeless problem in the city centre concerns many of our colleagues who live locally” commented Premier Modular’s Managing Director, Eugenio De Sa. “When it came to supporting a charity this year, our colleagues were united in wanting to help a local organisation who are doing their best to help the homeless population in the city. As a result, we were very keen to work with Ladled with Love”.
Ladled with Love organiser Suzanne Moulson says “We help local rough sleepers as much as we can through our soup kitchen but the support of Premier Modular and its team of volunteers means we can go that bit further. The items in the bags are everyday items to us but to someone who is living on the streets it can help them stay warm and dry as well as help them manage hygiene and infections. We are a small volunteer-funded charity so I cannot overstate the impact that Premier Modular’s help will have.”
