This contract for Premier Interlink involved the provision of site offices and welfare accommodation for the development of Media City-UK in Salford. Mediacity is a huge construction project awarded to Bovis Lend Lease UK which will encompass the new regional BBC Head Office, Sky and other key media players. Premier Interlink have provided nearly 15,000 sq ft of PremierPlus buildings in 135 bays, 3 storeys high, which was ready from factory, to site preparation and ready for occupation in under 16 weeks.

All the bays were fitted out prior to installation and a major benefit of a Premier Interlink building is the unique in-built, cable routing system that is a standard feature within the structural wall sections of every module. These cable routes are located every 300 mm, both vertically and horizontally, which allows for the easy cable management and installation of services such as telecoms, networks, security, lighting, heating, ventilation, fire prevention and water & waste. Highly appropriate for the site offices of what will be an IT intensive Media Centre.


Simple and secure push-fit connectors within each section connects these services between building modules and different storeys which greatly increases the speed of construction of the site offices.


This system totally dispenses with the need to use visible surface cable conduits, evident with other systems, and therefore any original or additional network or power services plug points can be flush to the wall or floor. Particular attention has also been made to the detail and finish of the interior walls and still maintains the high insulation values and airtight qualities of the overall structure. In recent independent tests, readings as low as 2.5m3/h/m2 have been recorded.


The quality of the structure is reflected in the standard 200 mm thick, galvanised steel wall construction ( the industry norm is 100 mm ) which incorporates a unique composite wall panel system that has zero cold bridging, thereby offering greater thermal and acoustic qualities with a ‘U’ value of 0.24W/m2K. This far exceeds the latest building regulations, increasing air tightness and significantly reducing heating and air conditioning running costs, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and therefore making PremierPlus far more environmentally friendly than conventional structures and other modular building systems. Over a typical 25 year period, the whole-life maintenance costs for a PremierPlus building has been found to be lower than a traditional building ( source - independent report by BLP, September 2007 ).


The PremierPlus System has now set a new benchmark for the modular building industry by the combination and utilisation of superior technology, higher specifications, lower maintenance, better aesthetics and a 100 year plus structural lifespan.


All PremierPlus buildings exceed Part L2A building regulations, and can achieve BREEAM excellent ratings and DDA compliance. The building carries a comprehensive 40 year structural guarantee, together with a Corus Confidex external wall warranty up to 30 years. All aspects of the cladding system have been independently approved and tested by the ‘Loss Prevention Council’ to conform with its fire performance regulations.


These bespoke buildings are available for hire, lease or sale and many are already in use in the commercial, finance, healthcare, education, construction and leisure sectors.
