After the success of the first building, Fort Apache, Premier Modular Limited worked in partnership with Galliford Try and the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to create a second 2-storey building at Wimbledon, known as Aorangi.
The fully building regulation compliant building covers 343m² over two floors and provides showers, toilets, changing areas and a nursery facility for the athletes to use. A large part of the accommodation was provided for racket stringers who work many hours to provide the best equipment for the tennis world.
This was an important building for the AELTC so timing and space were crucial. Premier successfully manufactured and installed the building in 10 weeks into a very tight footprint area using specialist crane works and skilled technicians.
In keeping with the unique character of the surrounding area and ambience of the AELTC sports village, the building had to look distinctive. Premier achieved this by using a T-shaped design over the two floors and cedar cladding onto selected external surfaces to further enhance the aesthetics of the building.
