Working closely with the design team and client we have achieved this prestigious standard without affecting the viability of the scheme and delivering a high quality product.
The scheme was a full turnkey package including demolition of the existing unattractive Resource Centre building and the erection of a new multi-levelled Children’s Community Centre incorporating external amenity space, green roofs and roof terraces.
The development was highly sustainable and the use of off-site construction added to this as it is inherently sustainable, the building was built using lean manufacturing techniques to minimise waste while optimising the use of sustainable and recycled materials.
Below is a summary of the building characteristics:
- 94% of materials used to manufacture the buildings were recycled
- Insulation material used in the walls, floor and roof contained no HCFC’s and has an ozone-depletion potential of zero – to help the environment
- Precision–made steel–framed buildings minimise air leakage for improved thermal efficiency, lower running costs and reduced carbon emissions.
