Since starting my employment with Premier back in 2004 as an apprentice, my career journey so far has progressed above and beyond any expectations I could have had when first joining the company. The opportunities I have been given so far really have allowed and helped me to develop dramatically and build great confidence, both socially and also in my own ability at work, to believe I can carry on progressing up the career ladder.
The opportunities the company create, along with the time and effort they put into progression and promotion from within really is commendable, with 3 of our production management team (with myself included) having all previously been apprentices with Premier and have been with the company since leaving school.
So far my time with Premier has seen me develop from an apprentice to skilled worker, onto team leader and now a production supervisor with my main focus of work now on the hire side of production.
Throughout this time, training has been key and has always been made available through various courses and further education such as advanced N.V.Q’s - one of which I am currently about to start. I have applied to start on a part time course working towards a level 5 N.V.Q in construction management in the built environment. Premier have encouraged and supported me to carry on gaining the qualifications I'd like to acquire to complement the knowledge and experience I now have, after spending the time I have with the company.
In the eleven years here I have seen and been part of some dramatic changes, both high and low but ultimately all for the greater good of the company, all of which seem to have paid dividends and is now proof when we look at where the company is now at with some of the huge contracts we are now a part of and also the fantastic bespoke buildings we now produce.
