Project: Preston Park Primary School
Site Programme: 12 Weeks
Preston Park Primary School offers a diverse educational experience, putting great value on outdoor learning with its school farm and nature reserves. The superb school facilities meant that the school needed to expand whilst not compromising on its outdoor space. A new teaching block was required which would sit at the top of the playing field forming a new frontage to the school
Premier Modular Ltd working as a key supply chain partner to ISG Construction Ltd provided the new building along with two other school buildings in the area. The new school block consisted of 48 modules housing 8 classrooms, toilet facilities, a dining hall and a robotics room. The building features large glazing and breathing buildings natural ventilation. An additional smaller building was also provided on the opposite side of the school to provide a classroom extension.
The location of the new building between the playing field and the main access road/ footpath into the still operational school made the project difficult logistically. Effective site management required a high level of communication and vigilance to keep the site secure, the children safe and the site firmly segregated. Solid hoarding was installed around the site with a key fob system for access and delivery times were discussed with the school to minimise disruption on the busy residential road.
